Travel Purpose: business
Positive: The property was very old and quirky with real character. The lounge was relaxing and the bedrooms were a good size. The plug-in radiators were effective in making the cottage cosy on cooler days. There was a ready and quick supply of hot water. We appreciated the washing machine and microwave. The host was pleasant on the phone and in his communications with us, also being quick to respond and resolve the problem when we reported that the WiFi was not working.
Negative: There were a number of things that, quite frankly, irritated us. The worst aspect was the spiral staircase. If you stepped out of the main bedroom with your left foot, you could easily fall down the very narrow stairs. You had to be extremely careful to step out the room with your right foot. I believe these stairs were a significant health hazard. The other more minor irritating problems were 1. the hall mat curling which impeded the bathroom door opening properly, 2. the bathroom blind was slightly transparent at night when the bathroom light was on, 3. several lightbulbs needed checking and replacing, 4. the lounge curtains could not be closed properly, 5. the lounge coffee table was so rickety we could not even safely put our cups on it until we tightened up all the screws, 6. there was no small towel holder in the tiny ensuite and no surfaces on which to put anything, eg toothbrush or washbag, 7. there was no clothes rail in the main bedroom although there was ample hanging space in the second bedroom, 8. there was no soap in the main bathroom or kitchen, 9. there were no instructions about bins, and finally, 10. the small oven kept tripping the circuit when we switched it on. I am sorry to sound negative but I wish to be honest about our stay.
Summary: Pleasant eventually but somewhat irritating.
